Mirena must be placed correctly or can lead to excessive cramps and bleeding. Immediately after placment, some women experience dizziness. The most typical change associated with taking mirena is a change in menstrual blood flow. For many women, mirena causes shorter menstrual cycles, and sometimes a total cessation of menstruation.
