Symptoms of stroke include sudden paralysis or numbness of the face, arm, or leg, loss of speech or trouble understanding speech, dizziness or loss of balance and loss of consciousness. If you suspect someone is having a stroke get them to the hospital immediately as many strokes can be fatal.

If you even suspect a stroke, the person needs to seek immediate medical attention. There are many minor symptoms that occur before, during, and after. Tightness of the chest, shortness of breath, tingling, pain, or loss of feeling in the arms, slackness/numbness of the face, loss of basic motor controls such as speech, and (short-term) memory loss.

One side of the face may be drooping and there may not be use of one side of the body. Speech may be garbled and difficult to understand, or the person may not be able to talk at all. Get the affected person to the ER immediately for medication.
