First you want to check if your mouse is plugged in properly. If its a PS2 mouse, then you dont really need drivers, so you may want to try a friend's mouse on your computer and vice-versa to test your mouse. If your mouse is USB, then check the drivers.

First check if the drivers are working or not. And check the mouse is in working condition or not. Try troubleshoot options available in the windows. Try to update driver.

1 - check to ensure that the computer is on 2- check to ensure that the mouse is plugged in 3- does the cursor move when the mouse moves? 4 - download drivers from compaq's (HP)'s support site 5 - spend $6 to buy a new USB mouse that works

When you have troubles with the mouse, I would check for the newest driver pack to download on the compaq page for the Presario.

If the mouse isn't working at all, you should check the part that plugs into your PC (Ps/2 plug) check for missing pins. If that isn't it, its your PC.
