Can you help me troubleshoot my PS2 Mouse that is hanging while I am working with it?

First you should try cleaning the rollers on the mouse. Turn off your computer and unplug the mouse. Turn it over and remove the ball. Take a cotton-tipped stick (ie: q-tip) and isopropyl alcohol to clean the rollers. Also, clean the feet of the mouse. Once you have verified that the mouse is clean and dry, reconnect and turn the computer back on.

The most likely reason is just that your entire operating system is running very slowly. Try stopping unnecessary processes or adding more RAM. Old video drivers also cause slowdowns.

Either you have a hardware issue or the driver needs to be update to a newer version. Try unistalling the drivers or search for a newer version of it.

If any virus attacks to the system or any pin of the ps2 port is damaged, the mouse will hang.

There are many reasons for hanging a mouse. 1. The systems may be affected with viruses. So a thorough check with antivirus is required.

It is usually not a problem with the mouse. If possible, try with a different PS2 mouse and check. I'd guess the problem lies with some software which is stalling.
