What are the risks of an enlarged uterus?

The most common cause of an enlarged uterus is fibroids. These have low malignant potential. However, they are associated with decreased fertility and can infarct and cause pain. They can also cause mechanical compression to surrounding structures.

The common risk is the tumors which often cause abnormal uterine bleeding and they might have fertility problem in future.

It really depends on what the cause is. If it is fibroids, the most common cause, they cause pain, infertility and rarely cancer.

Depending on the cause of the enlarged uterus you may be at risk for urinary tract infection if the uterus is causing pressure on the bladder. You may have risks of frequent and irregular bleeding. You may also be at risk for fibroid tumors which are usually the cause of enlarged uterus.

Some of the risks of an enlarged uterus could be urinary tract infections, or you could experience irregular bleeding, you could also develop fibroids, or small tumors on your uterine wall.
