Riparian rights refers to water rights. The riparian rights state that only the owner of the banks of the water source have a right to use the water from that source.

Why did a dept of fish and game come onto my property and unplug my pump? I own 100 feet of Gibson crteek. I was pumping for irrigation and garden. Ranger Kevin says I must get two permits and that it is very involved paperwork. This true? add a comment
Riparian rights, which stem from English common law, allow a person her owns land next to a water source to use that water. The use must be beneficial and non-wasteful. California adopted this law when it became a state.
