It will depend on where you live and where you wish to do business. Some places require licensing and others do not. Schools do offer nutritionist programs but most places do not require a formal education. California is the only state that has very strict standards with nutritionists practices as well as educational requirements.

A normal to perform as a competent dietitian requires trainig in food and nutritional science, dietetics and other related fields. A nutritionist qualification differs across countries and the available opportunities. A Diploma, Bachelor or a Master degree may be the normal qualifications. About licensing, its must across all the countries and differs based on the countries.

Yes you need to go to school. You actually have to take a course in that. You will have to get your bachelor in nutrition to actually give advice to others.
