The best form of birth control is of course not having sex. However using double protection is safer than just using one form or nothing.

The odds are obviously when you don't use birth control than when you do. If you had to choose between using a condom and taking the pill you should probably use the pill. It completely stops the egg from being released from the ovary. It is 99% or so effective. The condom is in the 95% range.

When taken as directed, the pill is a highly effective form of birth control. Most pregnancies that happen when using the pill happen because of user error (not taking the pill at the same time, forgetting to take it). Using a condom will help avoid pregnancy too.
