Sugar is what makes the Italian Sweet Bread sweet. Sugar exists in regular bread recipes so the amount for sweet breads is increased. Other ingredients are Olive Oil (instead of butter), yeast, bread flour, egg, and water.

Well basically you need yeast, enriched white flour, you will need some sweet and sour sauce and also sugar as well will help. You can also use eggs and buttermilk to soften the dough.
