For large dogs hip dysplasia is a big problem. Flat faced breeds have breathing problems and terrible gas. For small dogs spinal alignment can be an issue. Heart-worm, intestinal parasites, fleas, and ticks cause the most problems but can be avoided with preventative care. Most dogs are pretty healthy though.

Heartworm is a danger and you should take preventative measures. Fleas can cause many health problems. Ear infections, especially in long eared dogs.
