Depending on the school there are various regulations that are mentioned from the district of where the school is made. I believe there are various time limits as well so you have to find out from the district they team play in.Team regulations are jointly established by the high school's

Team regulations are jointly established by the high school's administration and team's head coach to define the academic and conduct goals for the team. They should be in writing.

All Regulations Apply Everywhere, School shall furnish equipment, and 8th grade and a 9th grade team are required, Separate tournaments for both 8th and 9th grade levels. Cutting down nets are not allowed at the end of games.

When I played JV basketball in high school, one of the rules were that the team could only have 15 players. Nothing more than 15 were allowed.
