What are the laws regarding the debt of a deceased husband?

It depends on the type of debt, and whether or not you are on the contract. For example, if there is a mortgage on a property you own jointly, you must continue the mortgage payments. If there is credit card debt, you are only responsible if you are also a cardholder on that account.

Debts will often be excused if they were acquired before the marriage. Anything done after the marriage could be considered joint. Consult an attorney.
