To work in a restaurant you have to be at least 16 years old, just like most places. However, if you work with anything that could endanger you, like slicing machines and other like equipment, you are required to be at least 18 years of age.

The law is 16 years of age to work anywhere, some jobs let you be 15 and 7 months, and some jobs can let you work if your under 16 (if they are provided by a school) but you cannot work past a certain time, generally 10 O'clock PM.

The law varies from state to state. In some states, with your parents signed consent, you can start working at the age of 14 or 15 as long as you aren't serving alcohol. In other states, you have to be at least 16.
