What are the laws regarding a US citizen marrying a non US citizen?

I am an American citizen but my fiance is not. Is there any problem with us getting married in the US?

Only if your fiance entered illegaly. When your fiance applies for temporary residence the government may ask them to return to their country for an interview and may fine them.

If you wish to just have the wedding in the US and then live elsewhere, it's no problem. If you wish to live here together then you will need to file a petition with the USCIS for a fiance visa. Apply many months in advance of need.

There is no problem in the U.S. with getting marriage between a citizen and a non citizen. In fact, the non citizen would easily get a green card.

Your fiance must have a green card issued from their own country before emigrating permanantly. Unless they choose to stay in the US for the first 2 years while getting their paperwork completed. You can get married at any time in the US. But there is a process to follow.

The marriage will be recognized in the US, if it is to gain citizenship there is an extensive process. Most other countries will recognize the marriage as valid.

As long as one person is a US citizen, there won't be a problem. There is just a little more paperwork evolved, but it is worth it. There may also be an additional cost for the license.

It should be fine. I think once you are married you both become citizens of the United States. The best way to find out for sure is to go and apply for a marriage licence and you can ask them there.
