The IRS does not start procedure until they have exhausted all other avenues. They will send a series of letters and only after the 90th day letter will they apply for a judgment and court order. They can then seize a property, if no payments or contact has been made.

The IRS does not start procedure until they have exhausted all other avenues. If you are contacted by them respond right away and make some arrangment. Beats having wages garnsihed.

After you file (or the IRS files for you) and you owe but don't pay, the IRS sends a series of letters - 30, 60, and 90 day. After the 90-day letter, the IRS applies for a judgement and a court ordered lien. They can then sieze property.
