A harbinger is a sign or omen or herald announcing the arrival...longer ago maybe an eclipse or a comet...today we may look for new technology and changing attitudes toward things.

A harbinger is a sign of something to come, that is, a sign in a change in society. A "new age" can refer to a variety of conditions. For example, the invention of bronze was the harbinger of a new age -- The Bronze Age. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Harbingers of a new age refers to an alternative source of food for pets. Rather than creating animal-based food for pets, such food will be vegetarian-based. New age is not a bad thing because pets will be provided with essential nutrition, without harming other animals.
