What are the effects of alcohol on osteoarthritis?

There are some known effects which includes pain around the joints which can be reduced with the larger amounts of alcohol.

I don't believe there is any impact of alcohol directly on arthritis, but there are definitely complications where medication is involved. In general, mixing alcohol with medication (NSAID's especially) can be rather dangerous. Alcohol does directly affect arthritis-related conditions such as gout, obesity and osteoporosis.

Alcohol and osteoarthritis are unrelated. Alcohol does reduce pain so it might be benifical but there are more effective pain relievers.

Although there is no direct relationship between alcohol and osteoarthritis, the people who drink regularly are more succeptible to osteroarthritis. In those who already suffer from this problem, no doubt drinking worsens the situation
