Deer encompass many, many species on most continents. These include the whitetail, red, reindeer, mule, elk, roe and chital. The North American Moose (European elk) is a species of deer. They are ruminant mammals of the Genus Cervidae. Antelope are not deer, belonging to the genus antilocapridae.
