Flat is a matte finish, while satin is a light sheen but not shiny finish. Satin would be a bit more light reflective than flat.

Flat paint does not have any sheen to it. Satin has a very slight sheen when viewed from a 15 degree angle to the wall.

Well typically flat is the dullest level of gloss paint available. Satin is a few level above this and has a slight sheen to it.

Flat paint you can use on the bottom , like a color for your car. The last paint should do with satin or glass clear paint.

Flats are rougher and not able to wipe down and clean. They show everything. Satin has a little shinier look and the base allows you to spot clean it.
