The sugar itself is the same, but the process of growing sugar beets and extracting the sugar from them is more laborious and costly than doing so with sugar cane.

Cane sugar is sugar grown from sugar plants. Beet sugar is extracted from beet plants, and is mainly used as a form of government subsidy to beet farmers. Corn is also a common source of sugar that does not come from actual sugar cane plants. The health consequences of this substitution is debated in the nutrition community.

White beet sugar is made from the beets in a single process, rather than the two steps involved with cane sugar. Both the sugar contain sucrose and the production of sugar is more in cane sugar.

You cannot tell the difference at all as it yields the same sugar. The difference is obviously that they are two different plants, but another difference is that they are grown in two different areas of the world.

There is no difference in taste. The only difference is in the ways the sugar is produced. Sugar beet are easier to grow and harder to produce sugar from. Sugar cane is difficult to grow, and easier to produce our refined sugar from.

Well sugar from sugar beets is actually the white sugar we use in our every day coffee or tea. Sugar from canes is more natural and also contains less glucose. It is a healthier option for the body to consume. It is not processed and left in its natural state.
