What are the differences between blending and creaming methods?

When you blend ingredients you are mixing them together by hand. Usually, when ingredients are creamed you need a mixer to cream the ingredients. After you cream ingredients, such as eggs and sugar, they turn into a creamy new mixture where you can't separate the original ingredients. When you blend ingridents, you can still see the separate ingredients.

Creaming is mixing of a cake or other batter by starting with the butter or lard and vigorously mixing in the sugar until fluffy. Blending is simply combining the ingredients.
