In common usage the terms shrimp and prawn are used interchangeably. Some regions use the term prawn for larger shrimp species, while other areas only use the term prawn or shrimp. Scampi, however, usually refers to a close relative of shrimp know as the Dublin Bay prawn.

The difference is only their size and the area that they come from. In terms of flavor there is no difference.
