Find a day care provider who has experience with autistic children or children with disabilities. It may depend on how severe the autism is. If your child is highly functioning, it may be more acceptable to place him in a regular daycare and give specific instructions.

The qualifications of the day care personnel (i. e. do they have experience in dealing with autistic children, special needs, etc. ).

Are they experienced in handling autistic children? Do they have enough teachers to offer private and supervised removal from the classroom and let him be alone with one familiar teacher? Do they have the means to give him his own space if he wants? Do they have play centers that he can use?

You really should find someone who has had experience before with Autistic children. Don't let him go to someone who has never had experience before because some people think they can handle it and later find out they just don't have the chops for it. Find a place that has toys that will stimulate his development.

Many states provide great daycares and educational services for childrne with special needs. Contact the department of family and children services and they will provide you with the necessary information for your county.

Find a day care that has a special class for your autistic child. Most of the time you can ask your child's doctor for a recommendation that will be good for your child.
