There are many consequences of abortion, both mental and physical. First of all, some of the physical ones are cramping, heavy bleeding, scarring and infertility. Mental consequences can be pain and anguish, depression and stress.

Well, the most obvious consequence of abortion is the death of the fetus. Besides that, one can experience depression (feelings of guilt, after the termination of the pregnancy), death (some people die from abortions), infection and infertility can also occur. Some research done indicates that there might be a connection between abortions and breast cancer later on in life.

Abortion is extremely hard on a woman's body and emotions. Physically, the process strains the muscles and nervous system. Mentally, abortion can cause depression and anxiety.

The possible consequences of abortion are both mental and physical. Physically, there is a small chance that your reproductive system could be damaged. Mentally, you have to live wth knowing that you got rid of your baby. If you are confident that it is the right decision, then you should be fine, but if you are indecisive then think carefully.

A woman can suffer from guilt later on in life. The procedure can cause her to have problems becoming pregnant or carrying a baby full term in the future. She may have a problem telling a future mate or husband about this.

I do not believe there are medical consequences. Just the recovery process, lots of bleeding, some cramping, and discomfort. However after a few weeks, your body will return to normal. If you had any symptoms of the pregnancy, tender breasts, bloating...etc. Those would take a few days to dissipate also.

While there are some physical consequences, most are insignificant and superficial, whereas the emotional after affects can, and usually do, last a life time. The physical aspect may include heavy bleeding, bloating, cramping, fatigue, body aches, nausea, headaches, vaginal soreness and tenderness. They may only last a day or two but could last for several days. Talk with your doctor.

I had one 40 years back; I've NEVER regretted it. Illegal in Illinois, I flew to NY, but I did it MY way and was true to myself. My life's quality was improved--it enabled me to get my masters degree. One can always have a child later--on one's own terms!
