I'm not sure if there is a standard antibiotic just for cats. I think it works much like people, you use what they give you. I have seen animals just get a different dose of "people" meds when necessary.
There are only few antibiotics for cats so sometimes,veterinarian will have to use or apply human antibiotics.But always remember that a cat always need to be diagnosed before giving antibiotics.
There are many antibiotics out there for animals but the most common for cats seem to be Penicillins such as Amoxicillin, Ampicillin, Penicillin V, Oxacillin, another form called Amoxicillin/clavulanate, and Ticarcillin.
