What are the best named brand trumpets?

Yamaha, King, Bundy and Jupiter all make reliable student trumpets. However, this is like buying shoes -- you need the right size, fit and instrument for his purposes. You also need the right mouthpiece as he begins, and as he develops he will need a new one. Talk with his teacher and visit a music shop with him.

I'm not really sure there is any "Best" trumpet, as every instrument has its own sound, and feel. How an instrument sounds to one person, may sound different to another. One needs to try an instrument out to see how it feels and sounds. With that said, four tried and true brands would be Conn, Selmer, Bach, and King trumpets.

The best name brand trumpets are made by Bach/Selmer and Yamaha. Bach or Yamage are top of the line. Other good trumpet manufacturers would be Getzen/Edwards,Conn/King, or Benge. After that, I would recommend Blessing or Holton.

Monette and Bach Strads are both good, durable and heavy trumpets. Any trumpet made of silver will produce a better sound also.

For used trumpets the best horns generally are Bach, Yamaha, Schilke, Besson (not Bessons-an imitation of the French Besson, Selmer Paris. Brands made before 1970 that are good used trumpets are: Olds, Conn, King, Reynolds.
