What are the best handguns for home defense?

I would have to say a Ruger if you must have a gun. They seldom jam up, most are light weight and powerful with very little kick back. Also they are easy to store and secure from little ones if you happen to have children in the home.

The best handgun for home defense is a gun that the owner is trained to use and comfortable using. It is foolish for a person to buy a gun and store it in a bedside table "just in case" they need to defend themselves some day.

I would suggest anything that is legal and one small enough to handle in case of an intruder. I would go to a sports store and talk with someone there.
