Porcelain being such a light clay is best augmented with a clear or plain white glaze. Anything too heavy will mar the beauty of the vessel.

Use crystalline glazes, they are the absolute best you can get. This type also works great for highly decorated peices of art.

I am not really sure what the best ceramic glazes for porcelain is, however when I paint on the porcelain to secure the paint on the object I first put the item in the oven to heat the paint on to the porcelain and then I use a clear spray to protect both
