There are lots of ads telling you that garlic pills may be good for your heart, liver, blood, etc etc. Unless you're allergic to garlic, it can't hurt, except for your wallet. Personally, I'd rather get my garlic in my food!
It is supposed to help with cholesterol. Although some people swear by it a better over the counter pill to take is fish oil pills. It also would help just to have a good diet and exercise regulary. The smell may also come out when you sweat so that could be a good thing or a bad thing.
Garlic pills have been touted as being able to decrease cholesterol in the body -- it has been successful in some people but a low fat diet works best. Garlic is excreted through the skin as sweat so the claims that it prevents colds might be true - no one will come near you -it works for me.
