Running is a great way to burn calories and improve blood pressure. The best advice on running vs. walking is that both should be done during a workout. Run for a few minutes then walk for a few minutes and repeat. This will reduce the pounding your legs take.

Running is better than walking because you burn a lot more calories, and it's a much better cardio workout. In addition, you will build stronger muscles (in the legs) faster.
