MSG enhances flavor in food by exciting brain cells which stimulates your taste buds. It's similar to salt but not at all the same. There are health concerns about MSG, and it's worth researching the facts so you can decide whether or not to avoid foods containing MSG.

MSG helps improve the flavor and taste in foods. It brings out and heightens natural flavors while not masking the original taste. MSG is popular in many foods as a result.

msg is suppose to be a flavor enhancer so the food has more flavor however lots of people are sensitve to msg and causes them to have headaches and food sensitivity reactions so i really don't think there is much of an advantage to using it.

Simply taste. MSG is only good for boosting the flavor in foods. Overall its a pretty unhealthy ingredient. MSG is typically found in Doritos, Potato chips and other fatty and un-healthy foods.

MSG = mono-sodium glutamate = neurotransmitter. MSG increases a person's ability to notice the flavors present, but...it also increases the expression of allergic responses, depending on your sensitivity to the food allergy and also to MSG. Thus, the advantage is shallow and destructive.
