MSG helps improve the flavor and taste in foods. It brings out and heightens natural flavors while not masking the original taste. MSG is popular in many foods as a result.

MSG = mono-sodium glutamate = neurotransmitter. MSG increases a person's ability to notice the flavors present, also increases the expression of allergic responses, depending on your sensitivity to the food allergy and also to MSG. Thus, the advantage is shallow and destructive.
