See if either drug's pill form contains acetominephen and try to limit your exposure. Acetominephen causes liver damage. Better to take ONE "10mg oxycodone + acetominephen" tablet than TWO "5 mg. oxycodones + acetominephen" tablets. This cuts acetominophen exposure in half. Mention this to your doctor when he's prescription writing.

Both are narcotic drugs and for practical purposes are about the same and give the same results. even though both come in the same 5mg strength, and both are available in a generic version, oxycodone seems to give the more potent results. Oxycodone is a schedule II medication indicating it may have a higher abuse potential.

They both do the same thing of pain relief. Oxycodone (Tylox) is just slightly stronger than hydrocodone (Lortab). I believe the ratio between the two is 5 mg oxycodone = 7. 5 mg hydrocodone. As always you should consult your doctor, local pharmacist or other knowledgeable health authority before taking advice from the internet.

Hydrocodne and Oxycodone are both opioid analgesics used in the treatment of moderate to severe pain. Oxycodone is the stronger narcotic of the two, and due to the potential problems of tolerance and dependence, a weaker painkiller such as hydrocodone may be preferable as long as it sufficiently alleviates the pain of the prescribed patient.

These medications are both used to treat pain. However, oxycodone is stronger than hydrocodone. A doctor my give a 120 pound woman hydrocodone for a medical procedure but he might give a 220 pound man oxycodone. A doctor will make the decision between which medication to prescribe depending on if he thinks your body can handle it.

Hydrocodone contains a lot more tylenol than oxycodone. Oxycodone can be prescribed with or without the anti-inflammatory. Oxycodone is much more addictive than the hydrocodone and stronger.
