Super 8 was a type of film that they started using some time in the 1960s. Basically, it is film that's 8mm. Film makers don't use it anymore and they don't make the equipment for it anymore. It can be transferred to DVD at some stores like Walgreens.

Super 8 movies are movies that are on 8 mm film cartridges. Basically 8 mm was the format used by old video recorders. When developed, the movie is played on a reel to reel projector. There are several companies who will convert 8 mm (Super 8) to DVD now.

Super 8 movies were shot on a type of film that was considered larger than and superior to 8 mm film, which was previously the standard gauge film used for home movies. This type of film has been obsolete for many years now and is not missed by home movie makers.

Super 8 is a film format that was used mostly for amateur movies, but also by professional for certain special effects. Super 8 film is 8 millimeters wide, but, compared to traditional 8 mm film, the format allows a larger exposed picture, allowing better quality, and a more spacious layout.
