Polishing stainless steel. Also sanding fine finishes on woodwork in preparation for the next coat of finish. Removing rust from chrome objects. Shine up metal objects like gun barrels. You can also use it to start a fire in the woods as it burns. It is used in survival.

Four aught is used to remove heavy tarnish from copper and brass which can be used with a cloth. 0000 is super fine steel wool with abrasive particles that can be used to clean and polish metals that have been deeply penetrated by tarnish.

Steel wool is used for getting the shines on the utensils and pots. The rubbing of the pot with the steel wool helps in removing the rusts, black spots in the pot.
