Blackberries have always been the toughest cellphones and can take quite the beating. They have a lot of protective gear. Also the Razr is great!

Hello. I'm in the same situation as you (not very handy when it comes to gadget). So I have a Nokia 5300. It's a hell of a phone.

Verizon had a military cell phone available to the general public. Also Letstalk. com has cell phones from all the different companies and you can use that to compare the different phones.

I have to say I'm pretty hard on cell phones. The most durable that I've experienced was Nextel. These phones are made especially for construction and fleet workers.
