Try normal painkillers like paracetamol. Ibuprofen helps relieve inflammation. Also try a baby's teething gel to numb the area. Hot or cold compresses on your jaw can help soothe aches.

Raw garlic is a popular home remedy for a toothache. If you do not have that on hand, another option is whole cloves. You may have these on your spice rack. With both remedies, you bite down on the item with the aching tooth. They are not pleasing tastes however so be prepared for that.

One toothache remedy is rinsing the mouth out with warm salty water. Another toothache remedy is brushing everyday with baking soda.

Apply a cold compress to the face - this helps reduce swelling and reduces the sensitivity of the nerves. You can also try applying whiskey to the affected area - it is both a mild anesthetic and a fairly good antiseptic.

You can get temporary relief by applying heat to the area or using over the counter dental pain products. For any dental pain, see a dentist as soon as possible.
