Make sure you are wearing protection when you have sex!! As soon as your period starts the natural birth control that breast feeding can be stops. There is no reason to stop breast feeding when you have your period, although some say it changes the taste of the breast milk.

Breastfeeding usually causes menstrual cycles to cease and then return slowly. There is not much you can do about it other than enjoy longer cycles and lighter periods. This allows your body to build up iron stores after losing blood in childbirth. It is natural.

If you do not want to get pregnant right away my advice would be to get on the mini pill. The mini pill will most likely stop your cycle all together and will not affect your breast milk. There are other birth control methods to help regulate your cycle like the implanon.
