What are some things that could be causing me to have tender breasts?

Some medications including some types of birth control can cause tenderness and pain in the breasts. Pain may also be caused by fibrous cysts. These are usually harmless, but it's best to get a doctor's opinion.

Tenderness in the breast area can have many causes, including but not limited to: pregnancy, PMS, about to start/end your period, and rough petting. If there are lumps involved, it could be much more serious, such as cysts or cancer.

You may be retaining fluid or experiencing tenderness associated with premenstrual syndrome: try noticing whether this happens just before or during your period. Another cause is lifting heavy things so the musculature is acturally what is sore. Finally, wearing bras that are too small puts too much pressure on the breast and can make them tender.

You are probably going through PMS and one of the symptoms is that women experience breast tenderness. It is very common.
