As far as Christmas sccenery goes, i would choose a winter scene, snow, icicles, christmas lights and snow covered pine trees. You could have storefronts with christmas scenes in the windows.

Fake Snow (Use potato flakes)
Stars (Best to but or make them)
Animals (Fake are the best and easiest to clean up after all is said and done)
