Bob is cut all one length and lines up with the jaw bone. Stacked is short layers in the back of the head and longer at the top.

I currently have a bob which I love. You beauty is you can have it longer (just below your chin) or shorted (above). A variation on this is the graduated bob which is much more edgy with either the front or the back longer.
