Should you color hair before or after getting a hair cut?

My stylist always colors my hair first and then cuts, this seems backwards.

Most stylists do it in this order. It does seem like they lose more product that way.

they dye your hair first because dying it is actually killing your hair. some dyes are okay because they don\'t have ammonia or anything but either way it\'s not exactly good for your hair. so, they dye first in case you get any damage done, and it\'s cut off add a comment

There is no hard and fast rule, but coloring after means less chemical to use and less hair to have to deal with.

You should definitely color before cutting. Coloring destroys and damages hair, especially at the tips. Cutting after coloring allows to trim most of the damage away.
