What are some of the different cultural barriers?

This is a difficult question to answer without defining what country's culture you are looking at. In a broad, general sense, language is the first and most difficult barrier to get through. Body language differences such as personal space and eye contact can initially cause communication problems. Additionally, cultural mentality such as individualism vs. community can be a difficult barrier.

Language is the first one to come to mind. Food is a difficult barrier for some people. One that people don't think of is gestures, which can mean many things.

Language rates as top cultural barrier. In America, many Americans feel if foreign people wish to become Americans then they should speak our English mother language. Religion can become a cultural barrier if there is no understanding, as with education, personalities, cultural upbringings, social standings, belief structures, and music, to name a few.
