Shrews are the most likely thing that you are seeing. They are about the size of a mouse but have a very sharp set of teeth and are much more bold and aggressive than your average house mouse. It could also be field mice which are much larger than an average mouse.

It would depend on what area of the world you live in. By generally moles can look alot like mice so can hamsters and rats.
