Since the first volume entitled Just for You (Just For Yu) published in 1975, more than 200 books. Books published before 2004 are known as "the main series", while the books published after 2004 - as "the new adventures". Furthermore, there is a Little Golden Books series, Little Sister (of Little Critter) series, and Little Critter Storybooks.

There are 75 Little Critter books, including Funshaped Board Books and coloring/activity books. The creator, Mercer Mayer wrote the first book in 1975, "Just For You".
