There are many legitimate jobs online. They are not always easy to find but they are out there. Many companies use home workers to do customer service for them. If you can type well you can always write articles or do a little medical transcription work. Also if you have any web skills you can also do tech support.

There is a lot of spam out there, proceed with caution. I would suggest looking at postings on Odesk, and making some money from Mturk.

If you have a land-line telephone, you can work as a customer service representative for various companies from home. You can find work as a writer or web designer. If you have excellent typing skills, there is also transcription work that is legitimate.
