kitchens in my experience should be a light color to reduce the heat. a pretty good neutral color that will go with butter would definite be a pale yellow
For a traditional or country look, navy blue looks wonderful with almost any yellow butter color. Combine it with a blue and white check pattern for a real authentic country feel.
You are probably going to want to find a color that is a creamy yellow color. Your local hardware or paint store has paint chips in their stores of virtually any color. Look through them and decide on a color.
