babysitting grass cutting pet sitting running errands for elderly, sick, etc (if they can drive or walk to stores) small 'handyman/woman' jobs (sprucing/cleaning up exterior-cleaning interior) small painting jobs (yard barns, fences,) tutoring younger kids check w/libraries, grocery stores, fast food, mom/pop establishments for work

Every homeowner needs yard chores done: mowing lawn, weeding garden, pruning bushes, washing deck or porch, washing yard furniture, digging flower beds, planting garden, cleaning and organizing garage, cleaning rain gutters, and if a truck is available, doing dump runs.

Many 16-year olds start in the restaurant/serving business. This job teaches them early about how money is earned through hard work. This job also gives them experience dealing with the public which will be important for almost any job they have in the future.

A great first job is a bagger or cashier in a grocery store. Others that I would recommend would be working in a movie theater, working at a fast food restuarant, and hostess at a restuarant.
