What are some ideas for a going away party for a Marine?

Have people bring items that can be packed into care packages and mailed monthly. That way your Marine can look forward to mail each month.

Serve food that won't be readily available after deployment (barbecue, French fries, etc). Decorate the cake with the Marine logo and get plates/cups/silverware in Marine colors. Have each guest write something for the Marine in a journal that s/he can take with and read when homesickness sets in.

Have each guest write their address and email in a small book that your Marine can take with him or her to keep in touch with everyone back home.

Make the theme of the party patriotic. The American flag flying out in front for example. Invite friends and neighbors that are upbeat, positive about someone who is in the military. Of course, serve amazing down home food and don't forget to serve good old apple pie

Get a banner and serve all of his or her favorite foods. Army food is pretty bad so he or she will enjoy a nice meal.
