Pressing a warm, wet washcloth on the boil several times a day for about 20 minutes helps bring it to a head so it will open, drain and heal. One old folk remedy is to put a compress of warm milk and bread over the boil, but this is likely no more effective than the washcloth treatment.

One of the most useful remedies for treating boils is an application of a turmeric paste. Make a paste of half a teaspoon of turmeric, a quarter that amount of salt, and enough water to make it pasty, and apply to the boil.

Boils can be treated using a warm moist washcloth applied to the boil. Once the skin has softened it can be incised and drained.

Boils are best treated with tea tree oil. One drop on the area each night will dry it up quickly.
