What are some helpful ESL strategies?

Whenever I would learn languages, index cards were ALWAYS great for me. Write the English word on one side, and the other language on the other. First go through the language side and recite what the English word is. If you get it wrong, put it at the back of the pile. When done, try doing it English to other.

Immersion is the best way. Hang around those who speak English fluently or get a girl/boyfriend who is an English native speaker. If more advanced, listen to news and radio.
